Job Title: Research Engineers/Scientist - People Search

Yahoo! Global R&D Center in Beijing is fully owned and operated by United States based Yahoo! Inc. We are seeking scientists/research engineers with strong backgrounds in graph theory, data analysis, information retrieval, machine learning and NLP to join the Yahoo! Labs, to focus on social network related research. This includes social network topology analyzing, entity identification, social network reforming, etc.
Your essential responsibility will be to help us improve user experience in global markets for social network related queries. This will involve modeling and prototyping as well as working closely with search engineers to implement, test and deploy social network related features for search.
Minimum Job Qualifications
* at least 2-5 years industry experience or focused research on social networks
* Industrial or research experience in search technology or SNS
* Experience in at least one of the following fields: graph theory, statistical modeling, machine learning, NLP, information retrieval and data mining, ideally on a web scale
* Experience or interest with search engines, social network, information analysis
* Good statistical knowledge and algorithm analyzing ability
* Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with people from a variety of technical backgrounds and geographic locations
* MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent, with strong research
* Fluent (read/write) in oral and written English
Preferred Job Qualifications
* Ph.D. in the area of social network research strongly preferred
* Experience in Java, C or C++
* Fluency in Python, Perl, or another scripting language desired
* Experience with large scale data processing on Hadoop or similar distributed computing platforms
* Experience with Machine Learning or statistics tools
