For those looking to get their Apple fix, the Cupertino giant announced two new versions of the MacBook Air laptop, along with an update to its Mac OS X software. The first new laptop announced was a 13.3-inch MacBook Air, the second being an 11.6-inch MacBook Air. There was also talk about the inevitable update to the Mac operating system (OS), and following with the giant cat codenames, this one is called Lion.
These new MacBook Air’s are really thin and extremely light weight. The 13.3-inch MacBook Air is 0.68 inches thick at the thickest part and 0.11 inches at its thinnest part, and it weighs three pounds. The reason I say pandora braceletsat its “thickest” and “thinnest” is because of the design choice of these laptops. They start off thick around the back end of the device, and as they get closer to the trackpad, it gets thinner. That battery life offers seven hours of wireless Web and 30 days of standby, according to Apple. As far as price is concerned, potential buyers are looking at $1,299 for 128 GB of storage and $1,599 for 256 GB of storage.
The 11.6-inch MacBook Air has the exact same construction as the 13.3 incher. So that means its 0.68 inches and its thickest part and 0.11” at its thinnest. The only difference is the change in screen size and a briefer five hours of battery life. The price for this model runs at $999 for 64 GB of storage and $1,199 for 128 GB of storage. A good thing Apple has done for the new MacBook Air is the addition of a software reinstall USB drive. This is because that there is not an internal or external optical drive on either of the devices, meaning that there are no CD drives or DVD drives on the laptops. If there is a problem with the Mac and a reinstall is needed, users can just insert this USB drive and reinstall the software. Both the 13.3-inch and 11.6 inch MacBook Air are available right now.
