Jolla has been working mostly in the background lately to bring us fans some exciting news in regards to their growth in the industry. What better news than having a massive country backing you up and calling your operating system their official national OS for mobile?
According to the RBC Newspaper, The Russian Ministry of Communications has decided that the country needs a national phone operating system which accordingly will be Jolla’s own Sailfish OS which has been built from scratch on the ashes of MeeGo after the death of the mentioned OS announced by Nokia as The Burning Platform.
Antti Saarnio has also visited Russia last week, negotiating the possibilities and contracts with the Russian officials, communication companies and IT company representatives – This actually was the second time that Mr.Saarnio has visited Russian officials for negotiations, says Juhani Lasslia, Jolla’s head of communications.
According to Lassila, the project is at a very early stage. Russian Sailfish plan is part of the so-called BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) related to the project, which aims to develop cooperation with the major emerging countries.

This will be a huge step for Jolla when they start developing for certain countries and stable their steps instead of trying to enter the whole world, spending too much money and potentially losing more than making profits.
